The Curse of Chalion

The Curse of Chalion - Lois McMaster Bujold Fantasy books are mostly hit or miss for me. I was optimistic going into Curse of Chalion and there were moments where my resolve to finish the book wavered. But here are the things that endeared the book to me:
-Court politics that weren't so complicated that I couldn't follow them
-Magic that was consistently applied and made sense
-A full wrap-up of the central mysteries

Pacing was a problem, but if you want a good standalone fantasy movie in a book, this is the one.
